Recreation WORKS

OUTDOOR RECREATION

Recreation Works is a staff and student driven Enterprise which provides a rich learning and working environment. We prepare our students to lead dynamic and challenging recreation experiences. Our goal is to produce outstanding leaders. These leaders will have the foundation necessary to be a successful leader as they transition into the field of recreation.

The goal of Outdoor Recreation is to help students get excellent jobs in the field as a result of vital training experience, which includes experience in a leadership setting, performing various clinics or other outdoor activities, in a public environment, interacting with groups of people and in a park setting, as a maintenance or other employee. Other exciting options include:

  • Enroll in S-130 S-190 Wildland Fire Fighter Training and earn your Red Card. This will enable you to fight wildland fires throughout the country.
  • Become a Registered Maine Whitewater Guide and work on the Kennebec, Penobscot, or Dead Rivers.

Upon completion of Recreation WORKS we will send you to college for up to two years to study the field of Outdoor Recreation or Environmental Protection.
