Youth Development

WORKING TOGETHER

Youth development initiatives begin with the simple premise that youth are resources to be developed, rather than problems to be solved. This conceptual framework provides the foundation for building more effective educational and intervention strategies for youth. Recognizing research on youth development, we strive to create an environment that provides three key components: work that is relevant to youth today and for the future; significant opportunities for real responsibility and, finally, work embedded in a community with caring relationships.

Our students are awesome individuals and robust resources in the constantly evolving atmosphere at Loring. Our campus environment fosters youth development by building self-esteem, supporting youth in constructing a new sense of self, facilitating a place where students collaborate in the management and operations of our campus. Our students are real contributing members of our campus with real responsibilities, as well has experience true consequences - all of which provide a sense of real accomplishment and actually indvidual development.
